Looking for an opinion re black powder loads. I have a 50 caliber Hawken Renegade (percussion) and use 90 grains of FFG synthetic to propel a 245 grain Powerbelt. I also have a Firestorm flintlock and use FFFG Black Powder to propel the same 245 grain Powerbelt. I'd like to be able to use the same load in both guns and wonder if it's OK to use the FFFG black powder in the percussion gun?

You can run into trouble with FFFG as it's finer and in 50 grains there is actually more powder. I'm not saying don't do it as I'm a huge fan of customizing loads. I'm just saying know exactly what you are doing as the pressures will be different between FFG and FFFG. Not worth blowing your face off.
