I started hunting out West in Montana and let me tell you. That's hunting. Spot and stalk is the only way to fly. Meeting the game on their terms and attempting to beat them by their rules.
Now thats funny right there

A few years ago I realized hunting/fishing shows were dampaning my desire to go out and do it myself so I gave them up.

I spend a ton of time hunting. I watch a few of the shows but agree they have lost a lot of their appeal. Most of them don't give you tips like they used to in the old days. Back when you could only see them if you rented them on VHS.
There are a couple shows I have been watching I do like. One is On Your Own Adventures and the other is Dropped Project Alaska. They are both more about the adventure than just killing an animal.

Wow, I'm shocked . I thought for the last 40 years I have been hunting. Come to find out I'm a vulture.

Default Vulture

I didn't really start the post to criticize the way guys like you and I hunt. Obviously, like you said, this is the way it has been going for years. What does bother me is 400 different rednecks having their own TV show and doing a piss poor job of representing the hunting population. All these canned hunts of deer that might as well be tame. Has anyone here ever paid for to hunt on one of these ranches? It must be a lot of fun to sit and stare at 300 deer a night and pick out the biggest one.

I really can't stand the staged shows either. I do still like Deer and Deer Hunting TV. Always something to learn on that show.
