I've been looking for a new set as well. I am leaning toward the Cabela's AGM series 27's. They have 1200 cranking amps and 950 cold cranking amps. I just stopped by Costco after hearing their deep cycle batteries are pretty good. Their series 27 only has 750 cranking amps with 600 cold cranking amps. The price of the AGM's are almost twice the price of the Costco brand. Will I really get a couple more years out of the AGM's? And.....would the Costco batteries last all day in tough conditions?

Newest version are made in Mexico 2 of my new truck batteries only lasted 4 months. Batteries seem light! Go with Walmart 29 or Deka east penn size 31 DC most bang for your buck. Trogans are great batteries but come with twice price

From what I've been seeing spending over $100 for batteries is a waste of money. You don't get much if anything more out of AGM batteries other than a lighter wallet.

walmart 27 group are $65, the 29 group is $83. Is it worth the extra money for the 29? for two batteries?

So it is worth the extra money? I assume that is what you are saying.

Look at the difference in the reserve capacity and Amp Hours. You may want the ones with the greater capacity. The group 29's will have more capacity. I looked at these a few days ago myself and if I decide to go with the WalMart batteries, I'd go with the group 29's. The only reason I didn't pull the trigger yet is because I'm considering group 31's with even more RC. I found some wet cell lead acid ones at batteries + in the group 31 size with 220 minutes of RC for about $100....
Good luck

The interstate srm-29's have 210 min RC. Run about 115 bucks.
I think they are pretty hard to beat for the money. Looks like im the only one who has had bad luck with the walmart batteries. Ad a everstart maxx in my truck for about 2 months. when to start my truck one morning and nothing, no click, nothing. Took it back for a new one. Same thing 3-4 months later. They just developed a dead short inside the battery some how. Put in an optima and never had another issue. Just my experience but i wont own another Wally world battery. Kinda like Wade and Mercs ![]()
