Default humminbird trolling noise, interference

I have interference of some kind when the trolling motor is running

Set up=

Terrova 101 with (3) dedicated batterys
Humminbird 778c using US2 and on crank battery

left side of screen is with the trolling motor running in continuous
right side is trolling motor off. Ok

This is in "clear mode" with the graph sensitivity up it's unusable

fix?

There is a PILE of great insights and different ways to troubleshoot the issue on this page:

Take the top cover of the trolling motor head, there is a brown wire with an inline fuse, thats for interference, make sure its not busted.

Nose,
Does the interference level change if you vary the speed of the trolling motor? If it does, you are likely seeing broadcast interference from the chopper power supply in the trolling motor and will likely be able to do very little with the interference.

Your experience is quite common and although some folks get a little help from time to time doing various things - it is often found that there is really no solution to the problem.

Good luck

Had the same exact issue. The noise is actually traveling back through your 4 bank charger into the cranking battery that supplies everything else. I know this sounds weird but that is how i isolated it. Terrovas are terrible for the digital noise that they transmit. Two options are to place cranking battery on a separate charger or what i did. I put a 30 amp switch that you can get at the hardware store and put between the cranking battery and the charger. when charging open the switch to charge all batteries and when fishing close the switch so as not to pick up the noise back through the charger. Try it it worked for me.

I had the exact same issue with my bird and Terrova. I called Humminbird customer service and they sent me a filtered power cord. I installed the supplied cord - problem solved! Good luck!

good idea but I don't have a 4 bank charger. The crank battery is isolated. completely. I'll call humminbird.

Just got off the phone with humminbird. They are sending me a filter kit of some sort for the graph. We will see. Hope it's that easy. But looking at that page Jason Halfen sent, it looks like it may not be... here's hoping.

thanks

Let's see. You called Humminbird at 1:30 or so, and got back on here with an answer on what they're going to do in less than an hour. I'd say that's fantastic customer service.

I think H-Brid has an update that addresses this issue.
