If you want to buy something that works i would suggest Rapala TD 9 in the HC color code. The first lure i start my day with.

i use them at night, mostly the silver or gold color, but perch work too, size 9 and 11. havent tried the 7 yet, but it seems a bit small to me.
i catch more numbers and bigger fish on the 11, and it casts farther, so i use it most of the time. i love the baits, they are a bit pricey, but they produce for me, so i am willing to spend a bit to get them. so long as a pike doesnt come along and think its a tasty snack they should last a while as i dont have many snags where i throw them (i dont throw them in the rivers around me, much...thats what flicker shads are for!) |

I used them quite a bit last fall which was into January this year. I do a lot of night trolling and my best color was gold, fire tiger was good too. They are slow sinking and get a little deeper than a husky jerk at least when pulling them around 1mph. I have one favorite spot with some old wood on the bottom that I probably left $100 worth of lures on last fall. I have yet to get one of the clackin minnows snagged up and been able to get it loose. It must be that sure set hook.

I find that the higher frequency of the X-Raps & Husky Jerks work better on walleye. The lower frequency of the big single clacker sure attracts channel cats.
