Default Hummingbird 898c si combo

I can't get my new Hummingbird 898c si combo to read the water temperature. I know its probably something simple, but apparently I can't figure it out!

Have you selected water temperature as one of your displayed readouts?

You'll need to use the menu system to change one of your digital data displays to water temp. This is described starting on page 100 of your manual.

In short:

menu > menu > tab over to setup

arrow down to user mode

Change to advanced

arrow down to select readouts

select water temp in one of the available windows (water temp is one of 14 options available for display).

Get to know your manual....plenty (!) of great information in there about how to get the most out of your Side Imaging investment.

Wow thanks for your quick response! I'll go try that right now... You know the dealer never did give me the actual hard copy of the manual...

Your manual should have come on a CD, and is also downloadable as a .pdf file from the Humminbird website.

One thing I wish HB would do is give us a printed manual. Even just for basics...leave out the most advanced stuff. Not everyone has (or wants) a smartphone and laptops and boats don't mix well. Guess I'm just too old-school.

As long as you have owned other HB's the menu is more or less the same kind of menu format, but if a new user I can see it being a bit of a challenge. I guess they are just trying to save some trees.
