Here is Saskatchewan they won't add a boat to your home owner policy if it is over $55k. I use Premier Marine out of B.C. and they have been super good on the one time I had to use them. I broke the prop shaft on my lower unit and lost my high 5. This was on a Sunday. I called in my claim and emailed a few pics of the damage. Took it to my dealer on Tuesday and had my boat back on the next Tuesday all with waiting on parts from Wisconsin. Fast and painless and would recommend them to anyone. I pay $600 and something a year with full coverage.

I had a heck of a time finding a place that would insure me also as I didnt have house insureance , So I called around and finally found that Intact Insureance does Boat policys and they will allow you to make monthly payments as I wasnt willing to put 5 or 600 dollars down at one time . I am to from Alberta . Call Drayden Insureance thats who deals with Intact , http://drayden.com/contact-us/

Just add it to your existing policy,if you do not have existing Insurance your best option is Premier Marine.Ask your agent he more than likely underwrites for Premier anyway. They are the go to marine people north of the border, with premiums and payments customised to fit your situation.

Angry insur

I have mine on my home policy
Then i had a claim on my boat and lost all the claims free deductions on my home policy

I could see if they charged me full boar on my boat part of my policy
But nooo They took all my discounts for being claims free for 23 years on the whole policy
Now they will get nothing over a $3000 dollar claim

Nice Job Co-operators.....I will be looking for new insurance
Even if it costs the same i won't deal with anybody after 23 years and screws me

And boat will not be attached to the house

Harbour Insurance in Toronto or Cowan out of Kitchener. Both have agreed valued policies. Thanks Bob, I listened and made the switch.

State Farm just priced me out insurance on a 40k ranger. 100/mth which i thought was very high considering I get every discount they offer and have been a customer for over 20yrs.

Heck of a lot of money for a boat I will only use every second weekend for only 8-9 months.

I know quite a few guys in AB are using Ogilvy & Ogilvy out of Toronto, myself included. The policy is written through Nautimax/Aviva. I pay about $600/yr for really extensive coverage that includes replacement cost on all accessories - trolling motors, sonars, etc... with a $100 deductible. I had to make a claim last fall and they were GREAT to deal with, I'd highly recommend them.

My car/home provider wouldn't insure my boat because it had a 200HP outboard, so therefore it must be a "racing boat".
