Default Replacing Treble Hooks on Rapalas or other Crankbaits

I was wondering what types of hooks all you great people use to replace dull of broken treble hooks on rapalas without affecting the action of the lure. Any help would be very much appreciated!

you can replace them with VMC hooks that match exactly. they even come in the odd sizes like #5 that are standard on some sizes of rapalas.

as you know when a rapala comes out of the package the hooks are sticky sharp!

Default anybody replace with single hooks

Do any of you replace the trebles with single hooks? What size and type do you use? have you noticed any changes in action or hooking percentage?

The problem with single hooks, at least for me, is finding a single hook that has a big enough eye to put a split ring through. I'm not a fan of galvanized hooks. When I swap out hooks, I use the VMC Sure Sets.

same here. i used to run a gamakatsu octopus single hook in the tail hook and then over time ive slowly gone back to sure sets. they worked so well on the x raps that i ended up changing all of my rear hooks to sure sets

vmc's are ok when they are new, but i find that they tend to get dull more quickly than some of the other brands out there, i like the owner st-36 for smaller baits, the owner st-41 for larger baits, and for short/really small baits the mustad kvd elites are pretty good.

i have tried the sure sets, but didnt find the hooking percentage to be any better than a normal treble (no numbers to back it up, just what it seems to me, as i cant recall a fish that had just the sure set hooked in) so i stick with mostly the owners.

I use gamakatsu siwash hooks. I think size 1/0. They have an open eye so you can just remove the old hooks and split rings, and crimp on a new one in only the back spot. I put the silver one on there, with the hook up and you have great action, almost no snags ever, it looks like a tail fluttering while trolling or retrieving, and with the long shank, you get great hook ups.

Owners are very good replacement hooks. Eagle Claw 3x Lazer Reds are what i tried this year on my reef runners and there working great for me as well.

I tried Mustad Triple Grips last summer. Really liked them, bought another box to switch up some more lures.
