We just got back from Lac Suel and the water levels were lower than I have seen them in 15 years. One of the guys took out the lower unit at a cost of $1,800 and two props were damaged as well as a skagg.
Since they are rental boats is there a way to get insurance on them? The skagg was $150.00 and I think the props were about the same. The camp owner used to sell insurance on these boats, but now that isn't available. |

The camp owner should have a commercial policy to cover there boats. They would make you pay there deductable in the event of a loss. I was on a trip and one of the guys with us ran aground and he had to pay the deductable. You can not insure them because you do not have an insurable interest in them. You do not own them. Did they make you pay for all the damage? Bob Luellen

yes they had to pay the entire amount of the damage. I belive this is quite common due the the number of claims that would be generated.
I also think the customer would have an insurable interest due to the fact he is resiponsible for the boat & motor while he is using it. Last edited by Mark R; 06-09-2012 at 08:24 PM. Reason: spelling |

I do believe there would be an insuranble interest--no different than renting an automobile IMHO! actually depending on his carrier and if he owned a boat he might have some rental coverage on his boat policy!!
