Well back from a 3-day fishing trip to Green Bay. Back with my tail between my legs. Maybe I just suck as a fisherman, but 2 boats, 4 guys, both both doing different things (1 pulled cranks, 1 pulled bouncers), varied the depths all over the water column, fished anywhere from 6-30 feet of water. 2 1/2 days of fishing resulted in 4 keeper walleyes, 4 throwbacks, a ton of drum/sheephead.....
Locals we talked to were struggling too, but I also heard people smacking them, so whatever..... So anyway, we pulled the plug on Green Bay on Tuesday at 11 and went to Algoma, hired a charter, and had an absolute blast Salmon fishing!! Never fished Salmon before, but it won't be my last!! What a hoot!! Anyway, thought I'd post.... |

Next time Skis go a little earlier, maybe the middle of May. Fishing is better and not as many junk fish. This year is a little different too with the early warm weather, so everything is earlier.

Was there fri-monday (6/8-6/11) and had similar results the 1st 2 days (5 keepers for 2 guys and what seemed like 1,000 sheepies). The 3rd day things switched for us & we smacked them pretty good on spinners high in the water column in shallow water. Fished the same areas that we did w/ cranks and deeper spinners the 1st 2 days, but ran them w/o weights after that, and that was all the difference in the world. Caught fish from 3-10 feet running blades from size 4-6 and some willows 30 ft behind the boards w/ no weight. All colors seemed to work, but a firetiger patterned willow was the best.
