Scenary and comradery aside, a good ceviche is just as tasty as fried walleye with all the sides. Unfortuntately, in my few attempts I've found that walleye does not make a good ceviche. I can never get the walleye to turn opaque without an overwhelming lime or lemon flavor. Still, that won't stop me from experimenting with a recipe again this year.

Cedar planks will also be on trial again this year. They work great with salmon but I struggle to get the flavor right with white, flaky fish. Anyone have a plank recipe?

I have made both walleye and pike ceviche, but just to be safe, when it is thoroughly marinated, I drain the lemon juice, bring it to a good boil and boil the marinated fish pieces for a bit until the possible parasites are killed. The only ill effect is that the fish pieces can get a bit crumbly after the boiling. I serve mine with crunchy tostada shells and fresh pico de gallo. It's not deep fried walleye, but it is a nice change of pace.

Default Ceviche

They make pills that can get rid of any of those pesky worms and bugs. Ya bunch a chickens!! I think I will make some this summer and see how many of our group of 12 I can get to even try it. I love the stuff with fresh Tuna or Dorado. I am sure walleye would be excellent. I get a little tired of fried walleye after about 6 meals in a row of it. But Cevishe would be a great appetizer with a Frosty Kokanee or some 40 Creek on the Rocks, before a Nice Steak Supper.

Joeman....if you're looking for some walleye appetizers that won't give you tapeworms try rolliing chunks of walleye in a half piece of bacon....fasten with a toothpick, sprinkle some seasoning and do on the grill. Now that goes well with a cold beer

make sure your pieces are thin and the lime or lemon juice marinaids a long time, you do not want to eat those live little criters..Another one for you pouch in boilng water take cooked fish and cool it in the fridge, mix catchup, horseradish, lemon juice, dip walleye pieces in like shrimp cocktail its great

Default Walleye

you still take the chance,of getting the little critters in your system. I would suggest you cook your fish and add your marinaid after.

Hello: I deep fry my ceviche using my favorite fish breading mix. Why would you want to do it any other way ? Good Luck O - R
