Default fishing, boating and good rain boots:

Hello there WC I was looking to get some new fishing boots for boating so no slip ,I've been wearing the LL Bean rubber ones with the leather tops and when it's raining hard they totally !!@$%#$!!!! So I've been looking online and have found a couple of brands. The leading brand so far is Sperry Top Sider rubber boating boot. They list around $90 I found a pair for about half that with shipping.I was just wondering if any of you can recommend something which works for you.

Thanks WC!!

Fishin,
A few years ago, I needed a new pair of rubber boots. I stopped by my local Holiday discount store and picked up a pair of boots for $15 and they have served me well.
I put a set of insoles in the boots to support my feet, but they have kept my foot dry in the worst of conditions.

Similar to these:

You only need something to keep your feet and lower legs dry when you are sitting or standing in your boat don't you. You certainly don't need to spend a lot of money for this need.

I assume that you put your rain gear down over the outside of the boots, so that any rain that runs down will run down the outside of the boots don't you?

Default Lightweight boots

I'm always looking for lightweight rubber slip over boots, I have some now but are pretty heavy, probably 4-5 pounds, which is a factor on Fly In (weight restrictions) Anybody have 6-10in high lightweight rubber boots that can be slipped over your regular shoes ? Heavy boots= less fishing tackle I can bring.

Go to Farm and Fleet (for us southerners) or Fleet Farm (for you northerners) and pick up their lightweight rubber boots. They are similar to the old Totes brand which slips over your regular shoes (or in my case, moccasins). I even use these in cold weather with silk socks under and wool socks over. Face it, you're not running a marathon in your boat. Go light!

Unless it is cold out I never worry to much about my feet getting wet. If I know it is going to be a all day rain I wear my water proof work boots. I like Herman survivors $49 at Walmart with dr sholles jell insoles. 100% water proof, I even wear them ice fishing.
