Default Dirty water walleye

I usually have fairly good luck on the Mississippi river in the late fall winter months. During the summer it just seems like a entire different ball game. Went out last weekend and managed two walleye. With the dirty water and water flowing a bit higher than normal stage what's the best approach? The wing dams seem to have too much current at this present time. The walleye that I did catch were way back in the sloughs. One was on a slip bobber and the other on a jig. Should I be lookinng for the clearest water available? Because the water in the slough was not much clearer than the main channel. I tried trolling with some three ways but nothing in that approach. Any tips?

Low current cover attracts baitfish. I guess the same could be said about rocks, flooded timber ect... But I wont drive past willows without pitchin a jig, Its a perfect ambush spot.
