I had a couple of these lighter duty Scotty rod holders come with my boat and I'm wondering how they will hold up for trolling. I don't troll a lot but will pull some leadcore and planers with cranks occassionally. I have two of the heavier duty Scotty's on my boat as well but want to add these for additional rods or else sell them and buy a couple others. Any one that can share your experience with these?
Thanks, Joe |

They will work fine. I use a very similar style from Cabelas and have no complaints at all. |

I've got a couple on my boat. The only dislike part at all is I've got a couple different types of rod holders of that style on my boat, and the bases are not interchangable. So the bases are specific to the rod holder that has to be placed there.

Yes, they are one and the same, Scotty makes them for Cabela's. They should work fine.

I have the same one you pictured on my kayak. They are more compact than the standard ones but work well for light duty. I feel the rubber strap needs to be in place to make me confident in them holding a hard strike. I do use my beefier ones for trolling on my boat though.
