Go to the website and look at the specs for the ultraLight.

Default light jig rod

You might have to go to the ultra light for jigs that small. I have a couple of Avids 63mlxf that are ok with 3/32 oz jigs, and ok with 1/16 oz jigs if there is literally no wind, which is almost never. With any breeze you are going to have a tough time feeling jigs that light with the rod you are looking at. I've caught lots of eyes on jigs that small in windy conditions, but to be honest, most of them were by accident; ie, they were just there. With any wind at all, and any belly in your line, it's next to impossible to feel your jig hit the bottom, and if you can't feel it, you aren't going to catch many fish on purpose, if you know what I mean. I really believe you need Ultra Light gear for jigs that small in nearly all real fishing applications. Good luck and "tight" lines.

I recently built a rod for this. Mudhole MHX SJ720. It has the tip to fish 1/32oz - 3/32 jigs, but enough backbone to fish walleye and smallies. My rod cost me around $100 to build. It feels better to me than the loomis IMX equivalent, which costs $240. I paired it up with a daiwa fuego 1000, making for a very lightweight combo. I use 8lb nanofil or 4lb pline cx, depending on situation.

I believe the MHX and GLoomis SpinJig blanks in 0 or 1 power are what you are looking for. Light, crisp top section tapering into a powerful bottom. Not at all like typical UL rods that are limp and whippy feeling. The st. crpox light action rods are kind of whippy as well.

Brian,
I use that very rod for perch and it is the best rod that I have used for that application.
