Default "Hi-way Bait and Tackle" LEWT Sandusky review

SOLOMEY’S TAKE “HI-WAY BAIT AND TACKLE” SANDUSKY EVENT

The Crown Battery, Sharpnack Chevrolet- Buick, Lake Erie Walleye Trail (LEWT) held their third event of 2012 on Saturday June 23rd at Sandusky. After rescheduling the event, the anglers found better conditions this time.

The top finishing team with 36.52 lbs was Mike and Shane Solomey. In second with the weight of 35.69 lbs was Gary and Nicholas Zart. Third with 35.54 lbs was Scott and Mark Bogen. Rounding out the top five was Jay Gullet and Scott Gietgey with 35.23 lbs were fourth and Zak Jobes and Sarah Jobes with 34.60 lbs were fifth.

Mike and Shane Solomey took the Medina Plating Early Bird award as the top finishing team that signed up to fish all 4 LEWT events during the Early Bird sign up period. Scott Bogen won the Sharpnack Chevrolet- Buick owner’s group contingency award. All anglers that have purchased a vehicle from Sharpnack in Willard are eligible for this contingency award at every event the WBSA is holding in 2012.

The top spot in the chase for the big fish money went to Mike and Shane Solomey with their 10.21 lb walleye. Nick Zoeller and Steve Zoeller took the second place big fish with their 10.13 fish.

The teams brought a total of 196 fish to the scales that averaged 5.44 lbs. Most of the top teams fished around the weather buoy north of Vermillion. Worm Harnesses seemed to be the trick for most of the teams also.

A special thanks goes out to Anna Lester, who in addition to fishing the tournament also baked an unbelievable spread of cookies and snacks for all of the anglers to enjoy. There were nothing more than crumbs left at the end of the day.

The remaining 2012 LEWT schedule is:

Huron – Huron City Ramp – June 24th
