I have had one visit by the Sheriffs Dept that was investigating a anonymous complaint . The Deputy was very nice and said he had no jurisdiction. The one set of neighbors are renters and have told the Landlord that they are terminating their lease and are moving out due to the barking ( they have 2 yapping beagles in their back yard ). I don't feel at all sorry for them. Hopefully when they leave it will help reduce the aggrivation to my dogs. My dogs are the only ones in entire development that are not allowed to run free . There are 20+ dogs running loose in the development and they all have been outside my pens making my dogs bark. The neighbors on the other side do not have a dog and are the anonymous complainers. They have a young daughter that they say is sensitive to the noise . My house is across the street and far enough away from the kennels that I cannot hear my dogs bark. I would try an air horn or water hose but again I can't hear them . I want to be a good neighbor. Any thing else I could try . It seems harsh to have their vocal cut . I don't know what it would cost .

As someone who works with dogs at the local animal shelter, I can tell you many reasons about why this might be happening. Are they outside all the time? Because if they are, even with no other dogs around, they will bark incessantly because of the fact that they're separated from you. It could also be from boredom and pent up energy. Having a run for the dogs is not enough. They must be walked at least once a day to satisfy an inborn instinct to roam over new territory. While shock collars are a godsend in other situations when used correctly, such as to control a dog that wants to run off, or to suppress dog aggression (this cannot be eliminated, only suppressed.) This will not stop barking, because dogs do this for many reasons and they will not understand why they are being reprimanded. It can actually just make matters worse. Having the other dogs run free in the neighborhood is just a powderkeg waiting to explode. When dogs are allowed to roam free without human influence, they form packs that will take on the looks of a feral dog pack. You may start to see them stalking children, or even brutally attacking people. I'm surprised there haven't been any brutal dog fights yet. These dogs should not be allowed to roam free this close to other dogs and people. You cannot get rid of barking from dogs, no matter what kind of reprimand you put forth to them, if they are kept in the current situation they are in.You could just as easily keep them from going to sleep or eating. Honestly, the best thing you can do for them is to keep inside with you. They will be much happier, more calm, and you will notice over time they bark when they should and no more.

After looking through all these posts, I can explain to you a probable reason for each dogs incessant barking. Most of the time it's from boredom for dogs not having sufficient exercise. Also, many dogs become mentally unstable when they're not given walks, as this is an inborn need. Dogs with seperation anxiety will bark and whine nonstop. Hunting dogs tend to be much more vocal than other dogs, whether it be whining or barking. Read up on dog behavior, and you may be enlightened as to why your dogs had these problems.

I've been in your situation. I had a German Wire hair pointer that barked non stop. I had a bark collar with a regular shock collar on him at the same time. Nothing worked. He didn't like the garden hose so I set up a sprinkler in his kennel, he stayed in his dog house and continued to bark. I've never hated anything or anyone as bad as I hated that dog. I finally gave him away. We've moved since then and now my neighbor has a barking dog. I think dogs that bark all day long have a nervous or mental disorder that can only be controlled with drugs.

,lol i have a bluetick walker cross and he can bark with the best of them he trys to bark through a electic collor but will only do it a few times then quit,,he knows how loud to whine with out it hurting him ,kind of funny some times,but nothing sounds better then him barking at a coon or bobcat in a tree. i got coon hounds on all sides of me and actually there about the quietis dogs around here barking,one guy has 6 i got one and another had 4,all with in a half of block,and a guy more then a block away has three labs that bark more then the coon hounds all day..i got a chocolate lab and it never barks,i think most of it is in what there taught.the guy with the labs has never told them to shut up ,i hunt night crawlers in the ditch at night and his dogs are the only ones that bark,and it takes him 45 minutes to get up and tell one to shut up,lol maybe thats a good lesson for him.i got a tri tronics collor
