I'm sure they don't mind but if you're not getting your line down deep enough for them to even see your lure you're missing lots of fish.

Also consider most people will only need a half a core to achieve the depths they will be fishing. So one 100 yard spool for $30 will rig 2 reels. No more expensive then any other leadcore now.

Half a core is still more expensive then a full spool of regular suffix lead core. As soon as someone shows me they catch more fish on advanced than you can with regular then I'll consider switching. Until then I'll save the $$ and buy some more cranks. |

For the angler trying to target tight contours, or make sure that their cranks hit the small fish-holding pockets and points among a contour, having less line out but still achieving the same running depth is a distinct advantage. For example, if I'm trying to follow a 35 foot contour, timing my turns and speed adjustments to keep my cranks in the zone is easie'mid I'm getting to that depth with only 5 colors of line vs 7. Closer to the boat = less guesswork.
The extra depth per color is something that most guys will notice on the first trip. The advantages that arise when precision contour trolling will be something that you recognize over time, as you build more experience with 832 lead core. |

Jason, when you've used standard leadcore for over 15 years there is very little guesswork left on what and where your cranks are doing. Last edited by Brotsky; 07-03-2012 at 07:44 AM. |

By the way even Suffix standard lead core is much thinner so you may be getting more depth out of that also.

Agreed, I did have one reel with Western Filament on it and another with Sufix and the Sufix consistently achieved more depth with the same 18# line.

...keep changing it until it is....
Change - about the only constant in life. It'll be interesting to see how drastic this 832 leadcore changes an age old technique. |

Well I just picked up a spool at cabelas for 29.99. Put some mono backing on a 27 sealine and was able to get5 colors and a 30' leader of floro leader on with some room to spare.
I am going to give it a try along with my braid on Mille Lacs Friday. |
