Default Mercury 115 4 stroke

Is the extended warranty worth it? Getting ready to pick up a new boat? The way I read it it comes with 3 years standard and some model boats 1 addational year, and can be extende up to a total of 7 years is this correct?
Thanks Rod

Default Merc 115 4 stroke...

...is a pretty simple engine that's been around for awhile. If I was buying one I'd take just the standard warranty. I have a 2002 Opti 150 that I bought new and again only took the standard warranty. Merc was forced by a lawsuit to extend the warranties on all Optis from this period at no charge due to issues. I never needed any warranty work on my motor anyway.
