Default Smartcraft Tach Inop...kinda

I have a 250 pro xs and the analog part of the tach is not working but the digital part is, is this just a ground or something?

Possibly.
What are you using as far as a system? Is this a single gauge, single data cable system, or tach & speedo with a junction box? Turns out that there were some junction boxes built without a ground pass-thru circuit, and guys were having problems with the backlighting. If you have a multiple gauge/junction box setup, look at the harnesses coming out of the gauges, there should be a black ground wire that needs to be attached to the known ground, that is also the same as the outboard uses.
