My Lund pro sport currently has a 110 johnson on it and Im looking at going with a 90 or 115 E-TEC. I use the boat for both fishing and water sports. Can any give me any help. The reason for going with the E-TEC is that with the shorter transom and narrower beam this is the motor 3 different marinas have told me would be the best fit. So please take that into thought when replying with your help. By the way I am new to the site and have found plenty of helpful information on it. The prices I received are 8500 out the door for the 90 and 9800 for the 115. Thanks

The V4 115 etec is gonna be a lot more motor for the money!! You will be amazed at how much less fuel and oil it will use over your old motor. No smoke, quiet, powerful and it winterizes itself!!!! That is the way I would go. Well actually, I would put the 115HO on it, but you didn't list that one!

I just bought a 18ft Starweld (old Monark boat)with the 115 Etec.
with a 17in prop it will push the boat at a solid 43 mph GPS speed.. Only had it for a little over a month. So far its an amazing motor. Dinking oil right now because its set to run heavy on oil for the first 5 hours or so. Running the XD100 dealer sells it for $46.00 a gallon ouch. I love just cruising around the Etec really packs a punch fun to run it. Had the Johnson 70 two stroke on a 1650 Lund Fisherman. The 115 Etec burns the same amount of fuel the 70 Johnson did so thats pretty good. |

I'm with BW, I think think the 115/115HO would be the closest "grunt wise" to your existing V4, but it does come at a roughly 90lb weight penalty. How does your ProSport handle the weight now, if you were to add weight off the transom, would the attitude of the hull change much?

I got the E-Tec 150 2 months ago and it is amazing. Trolls extremely well, and uses very little fuel - ( I thought there was something wrong with my fuel guage ) ! My was programmed with the XD 100 oil and it barely uses any, I have had no issues with the engine at all. I have a crestliner sportfish 1750 with the stock aluminum prop and I get 45 mph with 4 guys in the boat and the top up too ! I like the fact I can have a conversation with someone while going full speed and not having to yell.

I have decided to go with the 115 with a 17 inch prop and xd100 oil. Just got to decide between getting the I command gauge or going with a new lowrance locator and getting the cable to hook it up to the locator. Seen it done on a hds 7 and wow shows everything right on the screen.

I would go with the new locator and engine interface cable. I did this on my 08' from the beginning. Has been great to be able to pull up data on the locator!

Cool, you should see a significant difference between the old vs. new.
