Default Very temperamental transducer on hds8

I have a new HDS8 on the bow using to transducer on my minkota terrova. When take out the motor and put it bake in again it takes 5 min plus to get a depth reading again. I have set up the HDS to the 83/200 MHz that was suggested by minkota, but no help! Any help would be great!
Thanks

DG,
Order a new transducer and return the current one under warranty.

There was quite a bunch of units shipped that had transducers that were either bad, or went bad very quickly.

Good luck

Lightbulb A couple of ideas...

DG,

Do you have the 4.1 software?
The 4.1 software is suppose to help "lock on" for this situation.

Things to try:

1) Before raising the unit hit Menu with sonar screen selected (only screen or orange border) arrow down to "Stop Sonar" hit Ent raise trolling motor. When you get to next spot lower trolling motor hit Menu on sonar screen, arrow down to "Stop Sonar" hit Ent. Unit will start reading immediately won't have to power off/on.

2) You might also try using the "Standby" function. Power button> Standby >Press enter to engage standby ...then Power button> exit to release. Standby is usually the first choice that is highlighted when you first push the power button.

3) If neither of these options help, save your waypoints to an SD card and do a hard reset on the unit.
