Default Lowrance Customer Service

On Tuesday, the 19th, I mailed USPS an HDS10 to Lowrance Customer Service. It was an intermittent problem, once ever week or so, one of the keys would press itself. It was not a problem that I could replicate or just make happen. Just every so often it would happen. Checking the Lowrance website I see that this morning they shipped out a replacement unit. They probaby got it on Friday and Monday they ship out a replacement unit. I don't know how you can beat that. It may be a refurbished unit. I don't know and don't care---just want it to work.

Earlier this month I posted on a Humminbird incident. They replaced a dead unit with a much better one at their stated flat rate charge. That was really great. What I didn't report was that it took just over a month. While I'm happy how it worked out, the timeline was long.

Now what they both have to do is keep this up for years and years to approach the level of customer support of Vexilar. Nobody------Nobody beats Vexilar customer service.

Competition helps us all.

I dont know what your situation with humminbird was,but this was my situation. I have a 997 si and went to load the 6.3 update the way I always loaded it ,and the unit locked up in the loading screen, so now my 997 didnt work at all. I call humminbird because I signed up to be a humminbird select member, when you buy a 800,900,or 1100 series, and they give you a direct phone # to call if you have a problem, so I called got someone to talk to in 30sec and explained my concern and asked how much it was going to cost me, heard rumors on other sites that it could be in the upwards of $400, so the lady put me on hold, came back 2 minutes later and sent that all the charges would be waived, all I would have to do is ship it there, the unit wa bought in 2009 so it was way out of warranty, so I shipped it on 6/20/12 2 day air, they sent me a email that they recived it on 6/22/12, got an email on 6/25/12 stating that the unit is repaired free of charge and it already got shipped out . Total time about a week, Now if that isnt customer service I dont know what is. By humminbird taking care of my unit, I went out and bought another bird 858,because I know that they care about the average "joe blow", now thats service!!!!!!!!!

Great to see service is improving. I find it interesting that Humminbird has a special service line for owners of the 800/900/1100 series. It makes sense in that if you're spending that kind of money you should be take care of. Would be nice for Lowrance to follow suit for those of us that have invested heavily in them.
