Default White Iron Lake questions

Has any one fished White Iron Lake near Ely MN.
I will be fishing there the week of July 14.
Looking for info on spots or good lures for the lake.
We like to fish Walleye, crappies and Smallies.
Thanks

I've fished there the last 5 years, but always the weekend after opener in mid-to-late May. At that time the fish are concentrated, in or around current, either on either side of Silver Rapids or at the far other end where the Kawishiwi River dumps into the lake. Sorry I can't be of more assistance for your mid-summer trip, but at this time of year (July) I would definitely try the mid-lake structure spots that you should be able to easily find with your GPS/Sonor. But check the local bait shops on your way in!

There are some nice boulder bars in the lake. I'd try slip bobbering in the morning and evening.

Does anyone know what depths the walleyes are in this time of year?
Leeches or crawlers?
Is there any colors that work better on the lake?
Where would you look for panfish?
We are heading up Saturday.

Go to the bait store at the far end of Ely, on your right just as you're about to leave town (sorry, can't remember the name). The owner/operator is very knowledgeable and will give you good tips as to what's been working!
