Braid will work.
But for most of my jig fishing I still prefer the use of mono.
The rod that you have is plenty sensitive to feel the slightest bite - whether it is either mono or braid.

Remember, stretch in a line really only kicks in, if there is a substantial pull on the line. When you are pitching a 1/8th oz jig, there is very little stretch when using that jig for the initial bites of the walleye.

Then, when you are near the boat, the slight stretch in the line is a bit more forgiving than the none stretch of the braid.

I have 10 lb power pro spooled up on spare spools for my rod. I also typically have 6 and 8 lb mono spooled up. I will generally fish with 6 lb mono, unless I find a good reason not to.

Suffix I like 6/2 I like the performance braid.But I hear the 832 is great too.I don't like power pro I used it for years the suffix is a limper line and I prefer it to the PP.What ever you use it will be light years ahead of mono.I haven't tried it yet but the new Nanofil line is getting great reviews.

if price is an issue, then regular power pro will get the job done. i personally dont like the original though. its a little on the loud side through the guides, even with alconites on a legend tournament, otherwise its ok line, nothing special.

i have been using sufix 832 for over a year now, in both 6 and 10lb tests and all 3 colors, and its great line, a little stiff right off the spool but it loosens up nicely after about 20 casts, maybe less. i would highly recoommend this line, it is silent through guides, very strong (even the 6lb) thin, abd has been very durable even on zebra mussels and rocks.

i also recently picked up a spool of 10lb timber brown power pro super slick, and its much the same as 832, only a little thinner for its lb test, i havent been using it too long to get a durability, but otherwise its very similar to 832. it is also responsible for my personal best walleye, 26 3/4" not sure ont he weight but she was fat (released her, and i dont carry a scale), line did a great job fighting her on a smithwick super rogue, so i cant complain about it!

I use 10lb nanophil and 10lb yellow fireline.

I have yet to use suffix 832 in 10lb but plan to.

I do love using the nanophil!

Nanofil is the best casing line I have ever used - by far. It also has the worst snapping strength regardless if you use the right knot or not. It actually is getting overall poor reviews on Cabelas (3.4/5) and BassPro (3.7/5) because of this problem. If Berkley could fix this issue they'd have a winner. Sticking with Sufix 832 for now.

Others have mentioned Northlands bionic braid I tried the 8 lb. Camo this years trip.Great line, tied easy has a nice feel and on cloudy days on a stained water lake the white marker section helped with seeing the bite. Another great braid was Spiderwire 6lb.camo great feel and knot tying too. I like to spool up some different line each year, next year will find dome more braids on my reels!!
