Default icast just blew my plans

If this has already been beat to death I apologize, ive been trying to do my research but icast threw a wrench in my plans.I just recently bought a terrova with ipilot.crap...but its still a great unit and icast is going to affect my next purchase of a depth finder.I had decided on a hds10 until the news of icast came out.Now I think I have to go with an 1100 series bird, for future upgrade to icast. When I compare the 2,please correct me if Im wrong, the hds gives you an internal gps, while the bird is external. The hds gives you both side AND down images, while with the bird you have to choose di or si.Idf I had to choose right now I think I would go with the 1158di over the si.Can the 1100 series be upgraded to get both di and si?At least I can upgrade my terrova,I just dont want to make a big expensive mistake with the depth finder. thanks for any insight,Al

The 1198 provides SI, DI and 2D.

The 1158 DI provides DI and 2D and cannot display SI. There is no upgrade that I am aware of that would allow an 1158 to display SI.

Both will work with the iPilot-Link with 2013 Lakemaster iPilot-
Link compatible map chips.
