My group isn't heading to Ontario next year for several reasons, so my wife has agreed to go with me for her first trip to Goose Bay. Roughing it for her means no shopping centers nearby! So I have already reserved a remodeled room at the Rainbow in Fort Frances and a remodeled cabin at camp. Most mornings Ill be fishing solo with some afternoon trolling/boating together. She had heard of the eagles and the loons so she is going to see and hear for herself! I'm glad she is willing to make another trip North happen for me!!

My gf has mastered the in-line planer boards, tattle flags, line counters etc. we troll with. She's also mastered the netting of 'eyes with the heavy Beckman. She's learning how to drive the boat including power loading. Her only issue is 4 am wakeup calls....

I first introduced my wife to Walleye fishin 11 years ago. In fact we went Walleye fishing on our honeymoon...despite her reluctance. I'm glad to announce that she has become a Walleye Fanatic. She of course has purchased a top of the line rainsuit and matching accessories including designer fishing boots, variety of hats and different colored sunglasses, sharkskin gloves and of course a custom jigging rod and reel that is done in colors that match her clothing. This of course includes a line color that she thinks makes the whole outfit. She only fishs with Glitter Jigs and of course her two favorite colors are Gold and Diamond Sparkle. She also wears earrings that have Colorado Blades on them in several different colors and sizes that meet her requirements depending on her mood or the phase of the moon for that day......It actually takes her longer in the morning to get ready to go fishing than it does to get ready to go anyplace else she goes.
She caught a 31 1/2" Walleye on her first trip to Lac Seul and of course it is mounted on our living room wall while my mounts are in the basement. In short I'm truly blessed to have a Lady that enjoys Walleye fishing as much if not more than I do. We have had a lot of great days in the boat and I pray that it continues fro many more years. Love ya Babe. Mike Kansas |

Wife and I have been fishing together since our honeymoon, 25th Anniversay in the NW Territories, retirement, and still going. Hey Mike, when we first started to go to Lost Island back in '93, we were often the only couple in camp. Last week she was working on mastering the Terrova I-Pilot out on LBDN, has been running the TR-1 autopilot for years, following contours and hitting waypoints on the plotter map like playing a video game. Helped pick out our present boat, because the bow area was long enough for her to stretch out in with a PFD pillow and a good book when she felt like a break. Never did care too much for big waves, rough weather, even less so now. Getting that way myself.

On my bucket list is a trip with wife.
Will have to be more of a luxury, 5 star Americn Plan, etc. with lodge, bar, other women around, etc. And some tourist "stuff" mixed in along the drive. Someday. |
