Walleye fishermen as a group know very little about photo-voltaics. I would not put much faith in their advice. Hard-core recreational vehicle owners who live off-the-grid in the boondocks are good people to ask about photo-voltaics.

If it were simple, cheap, and easy to generate significant amounts of electricity from photo-voltaics--the sort of high currents needed to quickly recharge large capacity batteries used with trolling motors--you would see it done much more often than it presently is done--which is just about never.

Even with government subsidies to offset the initial investment and selling of excess power to the local utility, the pay back time for photo-voltaic power is often 20-years. That's why you don't see anyone trying to charge their trolling motor battery with a photo-voltaic power source.

Your saying the same thing most other posters said only with some bigger words thrown in, so why don't Walleye Fisherman know anything about solar?

Let me ask you this, would you get fishing advice from an engineer who designs photo-voltaic off-grid power systems?

There was also a new topic introduced in the discussion. The discussion itself became the topic of discussion, as follows

Your reply scored at an 8th Grade level on the SMOG Index

My reply scored at only a 9th Grade level on the SMOG Index. See

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SMOG_Index

for more on the reading level analysis. I did not think that a 9th Grade level would be a problem for most readers. After all, this is WALLEYE Central, not a bass fishing website.

:-)
