Default 1750 and BIG water

I live and Green Bay and get out on the bay often. I'm in the market for a new boat to replace my Skeeter 1850. I've come across a deal on a 17.5' boat that really has my interest and not just because of price. Can anybody give me some experiences with a 17.5' boat on big water like the bay and possible reasons why I won't like it? Disregard the 1' I will be loosing in the deal. The boats have entirely different layouts.

Not sure you'd notice that foot in big water. If you were talking from a 21' to a 17 then yes....

Default 1775 on Erie

I spent a week fishing fishing on Erie (Bass Island Area) in a 1775 Pro V and we did not come accross anything that could not be handled with common sense (which included staying in one day). I have also spent years making long runs on Lake Oahe with smaller boats as well. Common sense goes a long ways in an attempt to keep one safe. The one foot difference will hardly be noticable on most occasions.

I've been fishing Erie out of 16' - 17'6" aluminum V-hulls since 1996. A constant watch on the wind, common sense and knowing when to get off (or not go out on) the water will allow a lot of fishing time. I doubt you'll note much difference unless the hull or horsepower is a drastic change from your Skeeter.

My stratos is 17-6, the only thing I wish for would be to move the councils to the front to get me 6-12 more inches in the back for space while trolling. Like the previous posts, use your head and you'll be fine.
