Check out this week's fishing video at http://www.gillespiefishing.com/ . I'm headed there tomorrow pm to fish Tuesday & Wednesday. Will start early am (to avoid heat) trolling the mud with cranks (flicker shads in firetiger or black & silver or black & gold) & perch pattern spinners with 1/2 crawlers or leeches. We did well in late June this way in similar hot weather - 19 fow; but if that doesn't work will try the reefs & weeds as shown in the video. Will try to post when I get back on Wednesday night, but am have shoulder replacement surgery Friday morning so have lots to do.
Good luck lake is on fire for walleyes!!!

I guess my tentative plan is to head east of Oshkosh 1-2 miles and troll Crawlers...

Fished 7-17 from 5:30 to 11:30 (left when temps hit 94), due east out of Grundman Launch. Trolling in 18-19 fow about 2/3 the way across the lake. Waves started at 2-3 ft increasing to 3-4 ft. Only caught 4 white bass. Didn't mark as many fish as on previous outings. Seems the trolling bite has died.
Fished 7-18 from 7:00 to 1:00 (left to return home), Fished 4 fow on edge of weed bed dropping to 10 fow in South Asylum Bay. East wind with with waves at 3' decreasing to 1 ft chop. Used Slip Bobbers w/ chartruse jigs & hooks with half crawler or leeches for dead sticks; and Pink & chartruse hooks with the same. Caught 6 walleye (15", 4-18" & 23"), 4-8" red ears and a 15" smallmouth. Hope this helps, Good luck. |

Yeah, if you have a 300hp motor!!! Lets see, drive 4 miles down the Fox river, cross Lake Bute des Mortes and Lake Winneconne, should only take 30 minutes at 60 mph to get to the south side of Poygan - LOL

I do it a few times a season. The tough part is ,the no wake in Oshkosh and Winneconne, wind and making sure you follow the channel on Butte De Morts. My thoughts are, go to where the fish are,and sometimes it means a 1 hour drive. Good Fishing

The Lake-Link thread for Lake Poygan is reporting slow fishing plus a massive fish die off. Might not be a good choice right now:
http://www.lake-link.com/Wisconsin-F...nebago-County/ Reports for Winnebago are a little bit better: http://www.lake-link.com/Wisconsin-F...ake-Winnebago/ LOL

The fish die off sucks.Ive seen huge numbers of 30 +- inch dead in most of the Fox/Wolf chain. We finally got a break from the heat this past week and even got a little rain. I will be out this weekend again and hopefully the bite is on a little better than last week. Amigos been doing ok on the perch on Bago. The die off is almost exclusively Northerns. Good luck, Good fishin
