Just recently purchased a used 2002 Lund Fisherman 1800 with a Yamaha 115 4 stroke. What is the top speed I should be getting?
Also, it hadn't been used in over a year, and it is bogging down after it tops out around 32mph, then holds around 27-28mph. What might be the cause? Is it just old fuel, as there was over a half tank of old fuel from the last time it was used? One more thing, does anyone know how big the gas tank is on this boat? Thanks. |

I can go 40mph with my 1993 Lund Pro V with a full tank of gas 115hp yamaha 2 stroke. I would assume your boat should go 35-40mph. According to the Lund catalog your fuel tank should be 40 gallons.

I have a Lund Fisherman 1700 with a mercury 115 efi 4 stroke. At 5600 to 5800 rpm around 42-43 mph by GPS with two guys, full tank of gas (27 gallons) and fishing gear. I'd assume you'd be a little slower being it is a little bigger boat/weight. Few items: make sure your getting the rpm out of the motor, you have it trimed up and it has the right prop.

Friend of mine bought the exact same rig and only got 28 mph and bogging. Fuel injectors were dirty. Had them cleaned and installed a water and fuel separator[to prevent this from happening again]now does 40mph

Brown,
The lund fisherman 1800 with a 115hp engine on it will be running at the top end in the high 30s range. I would be quite surprised to see this motor get this rig moving at a speed over 40 mph, no matter the prop. It is up to you to get the best performance out of your rig that you can with this motor. I would assume that you will be running a 15 or 16 pitch prop on your motor to maximize the motors performance. I would also assume that you want to run this 15 or 16 pitch prop with the largest possible diameter that will fit under the cavitation plate to maximize the size of the prop disk to get the very best from the motor. If you could typically get a speed of 35 to 36 with a typical load on your rig, I expect that you will be near the top of the performance curve for your rig. Good luck REW |
