boat buyer. You are correct. Every year we have a similar problem like this. I believe a 25" transom would help.

Ive had my alaskan 2000 dc for one year now.165 trips,372 walleyes this year alone.Lake Michigan,Saginaw Bay,Lake Erie and numerous inland lakes and rivers around Michigan and I couldnt be more happier. It's not the smoothest ride(shockmaster seat mounts help) but as far as having an economical big boat and more fishing room than most pro boat Ive fished out of I'm happy with my choice My photo album has more pictures of BigBlueClick image for larger version

Here was another issue. An auto bilge pump standard that could pee faster than I can.
Not just on the Alaskan but in a lot of boats I looked at. A 1000 gallon pump should be the minimum.
The Alaskan 2000 tiller has a weight of 1105 pounds (excluding the engine). At 20'6" long and 90.5" wide (76" chine) it has a pretty big footprint. This is very light for its' size, 335 pounds less than the 2010 Pro Guide and 425 pounds less than the 2010 Predator tiller, both of which have a 25" transom and about the same footprint. I'm guessing it sits higher in the water with the lower weight. I have backtrolled in rougher water with no problem.
I only used the bilge once and thought it worked fine.

Pretty sure you can now buy the 20' Alaskan with a 25" transom. Here's a pic of my old 18' alaskan. that was one sharp boat.

You can get an Alaskan with a 25" transom but you need to add a wheel to do so...

I don't have them at my fingertips, are you on facebook?

Like the FM Walleyes Unlimited, Inc page, and look at the AYA Tournament photo's. We have a competitor that has fished every year, and has had several 20 Alaskans.

His boat is also pictured here in wetlands camo.

5 more inches of transom would not fix the problem with a beached boat and waves. Been there!
