I have a 01 triton 205 that i am putting a 225 merc on with a 23p HI-five.
I am wondering if anyone knows what hole i should mount the moter at. I want the boat to plane out fast 3-4 sec tops. I may have to drop to a 21p HI-five. before i do that would a cavitation plate help? or anything other then trim tabs? |

The problem with your 01 205 is it has a big set back or step in the transom. That equates to a slow hole shot. That was the big complaint about the early 205s. Thats the biggest thing they changed in the 2002s. Your boat will be a little faster but have a slower hole shot. Not much you can do to change that. Raising the motor may give you a little more top speed but won1t help the hole shot. On my 2002 i ran it four holes up before i installed a jack plate. Wiredog
