Question If fuel was 2/3 lower where would you fish?

I just started reminiscing about some of the trips I used to take because fuel cost just didn't matter. If it was under $1 a gal again how far would you travel in a weekend compared to now?

I'd head up to Waubay area and not think much about it, would also probably take a trip or two to the Gavins Point Dam to fish for Smallies.

Also used to go to a lot more trail rides (horses) than we do now, just costs to much these days to haul the trailer.

where ever i could ;and there would be a lot of small camp ground and resort owners happy to see us all.I spent the last 5 years busting tail to get all my goodies up to date and now can't afford to use them more than once a month.so if fuel was 2/3 the price I would be able to use my toys a lot more.

The St. Mary's River up around Sault St. Marie. Dang I want to fish that area again before I die.

We are both retired, so "weekends" can be quite long. We would drive to Alaska.

Default It would make a difference. . .

If gas were $1/gallon, I could make a 1,500-mile round trip (Oahe, Ft. Peck, Lake Sharpe, McConaughy, South Dakota's glacial lakes, etc.), and with the money I spend @ $3.50/gallon, I could spend 3 to 5 days in a motel/fish camp--and I would!

As things stand now (just retired), not very likely more than once a year.

I'd go from Central WI to: (in a loop)

-Red Wing
-Lake Minnetonka
-Devil's Lake
-Lake Sakakawea
-Lake Oahe
-Lake Sharpe
-Roy Lake
-Lake of the Woods
-Lake Bemidji
-Cass Lake
-Lake Winnibigoshish
-Leech Lake
-Mille Lacs Lake

...for walleyes, muskies and smallies.

But, of course, that's a dream trip to say the least.
