Perch, I thought you understood. The only glass that belongs in a boat is the one with whiskey in it.

I had an electric stapler that I had used successfully for this sort of project and it finally bit the dust.

I was going to replace it with the same unit, when I asked the person at Home Depot about staplers. He suggested, that if I had a source of air, that this would work well:

http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-25ec...&storeId=10051

I picked it up, along with an assortment of staples and was amazed at how much better it worked than any electric stapler.

I was going to pick up one of the 100-200 dollar stapler that are used to staple wood work etc. but found that for my needs, that this air stapler did everything that I needed it to do for a reasonable price.

REW Thanks for the heads up on this staple Gun. It sure gets good reviews for the cost of it. Would I be better off with the 1/2 inch staples versus 3/8. This will probably be the only thing I use this gun for so wanted to buy just one size. Any past experience on fastening carpet to treated 2x6's

Thanks again REW

When I did mine, I used glue as well as staples on the advice of a friend of mine. Used a putty knife and spread it the whole length of the board. I can't tell you what kind of glue it was or how much it cost. My buddy is a taxidermist and had a 5 gallon bucket of it. The staples will eventually rust and/or pull out, so the glue is good insurance. I think I went with 5/8" staples because of the folds at the ends and where the carpet has to overlap.

I would try the 5/8th long staples and use these if possible. The extra lenght helps for the folded carpet pieces as others have mentioned.

I would never use glue unless you never plan on replacing it again

I am sure glad the factory did not glue my carpet down.
