Sound coming from my motor, I would describe it as a type of squeal, not super high pitched. It is not always there. Sometimes when at idle I can hear it, and then it increases as I increase RPM's. Sometimes after a good run it is gone, and sometimes not.
Could this be my timing belt needing replacing? I did have my lower unit off this spring, and the sound was there when I put it back on, my buddy thought he heard the noise coming from lower on the leg when I had it on the muffs in the driveway. I don't think so though, to me it sounds like at the engine. |

I've had something similar on two different Mercury outboards I've owned (125 and 115). It seems/ed to occur on my motors after the units would get wet on a wet ride and would go away once the unit dried out or the water fell off. I don't recall hearing it at WOT or once we got up to any decent speed, only at/near idle.

My boat has been at the dealer all week and Yamaha is denying any knowledge of this squeal. They will not cover it under warranty(so far) and on the other hand they say that it is a maintenance issue? My motor is a 2012 with a 6 year warranty, well somewhat of a warranty. I'm not a happy Yamaha owner at this time!

Just got off the phone with Yamaha and they told ME, that they will take care of it. We will see and I will report back after it is fixed and over. I may have jumped the gun on this.

No, I believe your part# is 69w-45318-00-00. Does not look like they have an oversize bushing update for this model. I personally have not tried that wr-2 grease yet for this bushing.
