Default Aquatic Hitchikers or plain hitchikers

Do the folks who can write us tickets know the difference between aquatic plants and grass clippings ?

I guess I don't know how the law is written. Does it refer to any vegitation or just aquatic ?

The reason I ask is , our boat has been sitting (way to long) in the yard where I work, and the mower and or weed wacker must have been used near it on a wet day.
I'll be cleaning it before heading to the lake, but if I miss something, can I get a ticket for dandelions ? Could they have ticketed me while pulling it home to clean it? I suppose they could also get me for the rainwater draining out on the way up the hill?

If I were to get ticketed, is it up to them to prove it's aquatic veg or up to me to prove it's not? " Innocent until proven guilty" comes to mind.

Just some thoughts I'm having before I go out to clean the boat. I'll be doing a thourough job of it. I'd like to keep these questions hypothetical!

Knowing the idiots (I mean AIS nazis) in charge of this it wouldn't surprise me to hear a story of them ticketing you for crab grass.

Passed the lake side inspection with no problems.

My 6 year old daughter got talking to the inspector about what she was looking for. The inspector was very nice and spend a bit of time explaining things.

Later in the day my daughter was telling my wife about the problems caused by " Giraffe Bones " in lakes and how we need to check the boat.

No honey- they are Zebra Muscles !

The law refers specifically to "aquatic plants". But, it might be hard for a DNR officer to tell the difference between partial blades of lawn grasses and eel grass.

The AIS laws are a license to kill. It allows the government to block you from a lake or pull you off the road. Of course they could ticket you for grass clippings if they want to.
The very sad thing is they have wore me down. I havent fished Minnesota since opener. I wonder how many people feel like I do?

Same here. Haven't fished MN since the opener. Don't intend to. Today there is a front page article in the Strib. about the extremes people are going to in their hysteria over the AIS. Restricting the publics use of public waters by lakeshore property owners is just one of them. Sorry I could not bring up the link. A little help maybe?

I'm still fishing but its all in Wisconsin. This issue and only this issue has kept me from going places in MN. Not the price of gas. Maybe once all the corupt individuals profiting from this issue have filled their pockets the focus will go back to the people who's rights and livlihood are being trampled on and change things back for the better?

Not to be jabbing at the CO's but if you need to leave a skin patch on a scaled fish so the CO can tell the difference between a walleye and a pike, I would not chance it. Is fish and aquatic plants id not classes you have to take in college to be a CO? They were back when I got my degeree. Just saying.....
