Default Water Pressure Mercury 90HP 4Stroke Year2006

Had a chance to fish with a friend with the Exact same engine (same year) as me. Both engines are on DeepV Lund. I normally have 12PSI WOT but I saw his WOT @ 16PSI. Both boats Max out at 6000RPM: 40MPH.

At 4500RPM, I have around 10PSI and his is 13PSI. Is it something I should be worry about? Have I been ranning without enough water in there all these while?

Thoughts?

You are fine.
If you have not changed the water pump, housing and impeller in a few years, it would be a good time to do it. Then remeasure the pressure if you have not done a recent change on the water pump and parts.

Change impeller before season open this year. Another funny thing is, I used to ran 14PSI Spring time this year but now drop to 12PSI. Wonder if temperature plays a part.

On my 150 Optimax I was running around 8 psi at wot and 1.3 psi at idle. Changed the impeller and it stayed the same. That was three years ago and never had a over heat problem at all.

I think we all experience a drop in pressure as we get older,,,,,,,,

If it wasn't on the same exact hull and mounted at the same exact height you cannot compare his WP reading to yours.
