I'm going to buy a 621 vs and I want the Yamaha offshore 4 stroke.some dealers say 300 because of more speed and easier to resell. others say 250 will get better fuel and you only
Drop 1 to 3 mph.are there any other pros.and cons to help me make up my mind. |

There is no such thing as good fuel economy on a 200hp and larger V-6 motor and with that said buy the 300hp and don't look back.......... |

You will not get better economy with a 250 on a 621. If you are looking at a 2010+ I would not want anything less than a 300 on it. Just my opinion.

You will not get better fuel economy because that 250 will be working a lot harder to push the boat! That is a huge boat to not put a 300 on it. You are gonna be spending a lot of money on that setup. Are you really worried about a little more gas to have a rig that will perform? You will always be second guessing if you don't max it out. I know I have several times myself.......

Go with the 300, when your spending that kind of money, what's a few thousand more? That is a big boat, max it out, either way it's going to guzzle the gas.
I never did understand why when you are spending around $70K on a new boat that it is even a question as to what motor to put on it!! Max it out!! I can see it in an entry level boat to keep the price low enough to make it affordable, but not on a high end Ranger, what's a few thousand $$ more when your already spending big $$$!!! Don't even get me started on gas mileage, who cares it's a boat!!! If you want good mileage get a 14' boat with a 15 horse motor, or stay home!!

You get 50 more HP, or about 17% more power with the 300, same block or not, 50 HP is 50 HP.

But what you will get, besides less performance, is a boat that is very hard to sell down the road!

It aint the top speed. Its the ability to manuever. Especially with a four stroke. You will need every bit of power you can muster. Its the cheapest performance add on you can buy. Get the 300......merc.....oh I guess your gettin a yammie
. 300 is the ticket.
