Seen alot of one man boats advertized in different duck mag. Never saw one where a dog was in it. Could be a problem for dog getting back in boat as no ladder. Boats are so movable that they retrieve their own birds. Think I would opt for a small blind on edge of pond.

here is what I have found to be one of the finer rigs out there. It is 14ft long, low profile and stable on the water. I run a 6hp/ merc 4 stroke on it and love the darn thing...
4 rivers layout boats/ google them |

What I’m looking to do with it is hunt public and privet land. Me, dog, gun and dozen decs. No motor for now thinking kayak paddle & push pole. Try to keep it under $1,500. Thinking a 10’ lay out boat and be able fit it all in the back of a truck. That’s a sweet rig bigger than what I’m looking for kinda leaning to a MIGRATOR 11' Layout Boat(4 rivers) or a 10” AquaPod

What you want is a Carsten's Pintail model. About 10' long, fits nicely in even a short box pickup.
If you didn't have the dog, I would say a Carstens' Puddler, but you need a bit more room for the dog, and the Pintail is perfect. You don't want to get into whitecaps with it but is very stable and could blend into mowed grass it is so low profile. We have two Puddlers and one Pintail. Awesome boats. http://www.carstensindustries.com/duckboats.html Made in MN in small town along 94. The big stores used to carry them, but not anymore I don't think. Good luck whatever you get!

I hunt out of an Otter Final Attack. Awesome little boat, rated for a 2.5 hp. I bought the blind for it too. A buddy of mine does not have the blind, so he can hunt with his dog. I've got about $700 or so into it.
