Most of these laws haven't been tested in their states' courts. I wouldn't want to be the first case in any state.
An old rule of thumb is even if you are found justified in shooting someone, it will cost you around $30,000 in legal costs to defend yourself. So, only use deadly force to protect life, never property.

Looking for a clear explanation of LAW? Especially one that involves the 2nd amendment?

If your involved in a justified shooting and no charges are brought against you why would you be out anything?

If the police come to your house and there is a dead body, a living person is going to be arrested, unless that person is a 100 pound 19 year old widow with small children (Oklahoma). After the arrest, the prosecutor is going to press charges. You now need a lawyer, and they don't work for free.
The police aren't going to take chances, neither is the prosecutor's office. Bottom line: use deadly force only to protect your life, not your big TV.

Why would you assume prosecution? I hear of justified shootings all the time. If your not charged then there is no prosecution. If you clearly defend yourself, espeicaily home invasion, you will likely be taking a trip to the station but that will probably be it. I dont think we need Myth Busters for this one.

Its information like this that gives people pause when the real deal shows up. If a violent person intent on killing you or your family enters the picture you need to act fast and not worry about going to jail.

Wisconsin isn't Texas. It isn't even ND, and ND prosecutors certainly charge shooters.
For home defense, you need deadbolt locks, a barking dog, a safe room with a locking door, and a 12 gauge. The deadbolts will deter most intruders, the dog will warn you, the safe room should have your cell phones. If they break into the locked safe room, there will be no question should you use the 12 gauge.
Don't ever go after someone in your house. They will either be frightened amateurs, or pros who are more at home in the dark than you. Call police about the intrusion, and be sure to mention you are in a safe room with a shotgun.

I asked the local police about this situation. The answer was "Take your family to the basement or other safe area of your house and call us. Just remember you have the right to defend yourself and your family if you need to.".

If you mention you're already armed, the police will come quicker.

Took the cops 45 minutes to get to the neighbors when someone was tying to break in, don't depend on them.
