I'm a tinkerer that always has to change something so things like this interest me.
Anyone hear of Keel-X? Would be a pretty good solution to get some keel protection for an aluminum boat. Yes I understand there is a plate there, but once all the paint is scratched up, and keel plate gouged up............well this would just look much nicer. And I don't see how a stick on style would work on an aluminum boat, especially one with a riveted keel plate. Here are a couple of pictures. This is a version of Line-X bedliner. As I understand it (I'm just reading about it) it is not the same formula used in bedliners and is sprayed on very thick. Thoughts?? |

Old school,
I have experience with both a Keel Shield brand and using a Roll on Bedliner called Herculiner. Both are on Crestliner boats which have a raised or knife area. The Herculiner has been on for seven years and the Keel Shield for three years. Both have held up well. Both boats are pulled up on the granite shores of Lake of the Woods on a regular basis. The Keel Shield required sealing the edges of the product with 3m adhesive. After running both boats I prefer the Herculiner. Pm me if you would like additional info or pictures. Good luck. |
