This thread has dredged up an old memory, salmon not walleye fishing.

Friend and I were fishing Lake Michigan from Charlevoix. He had an antique mother-of-pearl spoon and it was absolutely slaughtering the salmon. Rather than lose it, we retired it and, instead, painted some Daredevils with mother-of-pearl nail polish. They worked just as well and, when asked by boats around us what we were using, we replied "Revlon spoons". "Oh yeah- I've heard of those."

When I was growing up as a kid (47 years ago)we fished LOTW for 2 weeks each summer, last week in June through the first week in July each year. My dad got hold of some Lazy Ikes that a couple from Louisville Ky were using and once we tried them it was lights out each time we went out. I still have 40 or 50 of them, but seldom try them much any more.

When walleyes are in 8-12 feet of water post spawn feeding spree I would not hesitate to run an ike anywhere walleyes swim. Still my sentimental favorite lure...and a multitude of colors. Also takes smallmouth bass and pike.

Ddi a quick search.....looks like suttons are still being made. I agree, they are a great old standby - and always seem to put a fish in the box for me.
