Question Hydraulic steering - Lund

I bought a used 94 Lund Baron with 200hp Yamaha on it. Steering seems to be getting harder. Where is the fill tube for the hydraulic pump. No place on console like friend's. It looks like it is maybe in steering wheel housing. Maybe TMAC or old Lund user could help out. THanks

Is it a Sea Star Pro system? Look on the top of the helm for a small cap.

Default lund

Yes, I think I can read Teleflex on bottom. Also it is a tilt steering wheel. Is the fill hole under the rubber boot over the tilt mechanism? Thanks

No, it's just the steering universal under the boot. The hydraulic helm unit is behind the dash most likely. There should be fill plug on the top.

Are you sure it is Hydraulic steering?
I don't recall hydraulic being available in '94.
I'm thinking you have "no feedback" steering.
If so...at 18 years old, you may need a new steering cable.

You may be right, how to tell? If right, would I be better replacing the NFB steering with hydraulic steering? The TR1 Autopilot on the kicker quit working this year. I steer the kicker with a linkage to the big motor now. The boat is 95 Lund Baron 2100 with 94 200hp Yamaha 2 stroke. Say this boat was originally set up in SD to fish salmon, were you in SD then? Thanks

It will be cheaper to stay with no-feedback ...which is a cable, like a big throttle cable.
Hydraulic will cost a bunch...but it is very nice..

Your call.

No, I never lived in South Dakota, but.... I was a Montana Lund dealer for many years before I retired ---I was a dealer even back in 1994. I am pretty familiar with the bigger Lunds, especially.
