Cabela's Lowrance HDS 8 Gen 1

Did anyone get in on the Lowrance Reconditioned HDS 8 W/O transducer for $749?

It was only for a short time, I see they now have another deal for more money.

I saw it posted and thought about it too long instead of ordering immediately. What is usually the warranty on the reconditioned units? Not knowing that is the only thing that made me hesitate.

I called Cabelas about them. 6 month warranty.

In my opinion a 6-month warranty is not enough even in spring. At the same time it doesn't show much confidence from the manufacturer. The low price looks more like bait to me than anything else.

I called and they said one year factory warranty, I will find out when it arrives.

I have one coming. At that price it is less than I paid for my gen 1 HDS 7. I couldn't resist the 2" bigger screen and features @ that price. The warranty doesn't bother me too much as I'll use it alot in the next 3 months to test it. If something should go wrong I have had good luck w/ Lowrance. I've run their products for at least 20 years and in that time had a GPS antenna and a LCX 111 go bad. Both were out of warranty and both were replaced at a minimum cost. Time will tell...

I just called Cabela's is this deal over? What is the process for catching deals like this?

I was so lucky, just happened to see, I think it was just a 24 hour sale. I do know they have a place where you can ask to be notified on their deals but I have never signed up for that.

My reconditioned HDS 8 arrived from Cabelas and the good news is twofold: 1) the one year warranty is from Lowrance, not Cabelas. 2) that is good because my AMEX credit card doubles the length of the manufacturer's warranty--but not a retailers warranty. You might want to check your credit card and keep your receipt.
