Fished Sun. July 3rd, out of Hotwaters. Launched at 7:15, & ran to 33/12 just north of the dump, did a big loop, and worked on over in the direction of the bar. Never pulled lines, ended up at 34.5/14. took 12 eye by 1:15 most on spoons behind Dipsys or Jets. #1 Dipsy set at 2, back 87' was good. 30 Jets back 125 - 160 also took fish that were marking at 40' +/-. Reg colors, speed 2.1 mph (GPS). Biggest fish was 4-1/2# mostly eaters.
It's the time of year now that the general area between the dump and the bar will produce a study pick of fish, for anyone patient enough to work them out. We never found a hot spot, but limited out searching for one. Enough non-target species to keep it intersting, and provide a great learning area. |

Went out of Lorain Saturday morning, 7/3, Pulled 12 walleyes on 20 jets (120 back) and big dipsies 75-90 back. Superman, Shrimp and Oilslick were the most productive spoons. North 31-32 West 13-17, almost all the fish came trolling with the east wind, waves were a solid 2 foot.

Caught 10 eaters averaging three lbs fishing the 32/33 - 17/18 lines. The big dipsy on the #3 setting 90 back, and Reefrunners back 145 took all the fish. No hawg walleyes, but got some hot sheepshead.
Hope the big fish haven't left Lorain, and headed east already. |
