Terrova or power drive
Picked up a small boat. It has a powedrive 55 lb on it. I want to put on link. You can for $800 or I could sell it and get a terrova which is $1800. Maybe sell the power drive for $500. What's better. Opinions?

Just boils down to if you would want to use a foot pedal or not. You can with the terrova, you cannot with the powerdrive. Otherwise they are virtually the same motor. Is having a foot pedal worth $500?

FYI, it looks like a new Powerdrive 55# can be purchased for $600-625, so getting $500 for a used one might be optimistic.

I'd keep an eye on the swap board or classifieds. With the new MinnKota's coming out, you might find a good buy on a I-Pilot Terrova.

Since you're in North Dakota, check out the classifieds on Bismanonline. There have been a fair number of Terrovas on there, usually around $800-1200 depending on age and iPilot vs Link.
I ran a PD with autopilot and copilot for years. The iPilot system is a definite upgrade. Just the ability to turn autopilot on and off from the remote, having the spot lock function, and the screen to see your throttle setting and current travel speed is well worth the money. |

That's a PowerDrive V2, right? Link won't work on PowerDrive model older than the V2. If you have the V2, an i-Pilot Link is $417 from Amazon.

Mine has auto pilot and built in sonar. That is $979 msrp. I'm sure you can find them cheaper. I'm just going list for list. Certainly doesn't seem to be any deals on Terrovas. All the. Ones I see for sale used are80 or 112. I only need a 55 lb. don't need two batteries and the weight. Just trying to get pushed in the right direction. I saw a place that had a Terrovas classic or something like that. I think it would be the last generation with link for $1400. I don't think that has the new style remote or Bluetooth.

Really? I have to check that out. That would be the way to go. And yes, it's the v2.

Lucky you! I have the older PowerDrive 55, so the best I can do with it is a Co-Pilot. Don't know what you have a for a deep cycle battery, but mine needs a Group 31 or 29 to have enough capacity for a day of fishing in my 16' Alumacraft. But, I do often use it to troll crankbaits.

Just looked on Amazon. $417 is for the straight ipilot. No link. The ones with link are $750 plus.
