Default Clear Lake tourney

Bob, how did the Clear Lake tourney end up going? Looks like some folks caught some fish on day 1, but haven't seen anything about yesterday. We went up after the tourney (about 2:30) and drug some cranks around for 2-3 hours with absolutely no luck. Covered from 5-12 feet with no takers at all. Were the tourney folks using live bait or did the fish shut down somewhat yesterday? (Or did I just plain have the wrong program???)

On another note, we saw a boat with a couple young ladies pulling a couple kids in swimsuits (no wetsuits) on a tube yesterday.. That water is 56 degrees!!!!! Maybe I'm just a wimp, but in my mind they should have been issued a ticket for child endangerment on the spot!!

It is definitely too cold for tubing, skiing, or swimming.

I haven't seen any tournament results for Sunday yet.. I heard the bite slowed down on Sunday.

Leaders after Saturday had a little over 21 pounds. Pulling crankbaits was the most productive. Not many people were willing to talk on Saturday regarding techniques.

We need some warm weather to get those fish going. When it gets warmer, the action will heat up also.

Sunday's fishing was definitely tougher.

Winning weight was 34.6# and they took them trolling cranks. Second was 30.7# and that weight came on jigs and minnows, or jigs and leeches. Not as many fish caught Sunday either.

Clear Lake is a fantastic fishery right now, the DNR has done a great job with the stocking program and slot limits.

Thanks for the info guys.. At least it wasn't just me (whew!!).. You're definately right in that some warm weather to get that water temp up into the 60's will make a world of difference and also that Clear Lake is a wonderful fishery as of late (best since it froze out in my opinion).. Just hope it can maintain that level.

It's supposed to be a little nicer this week, so maybe some sun and warm air will fare well for next weekend.

Good luck.. Dave
