Timbrens have worked well for me.

Thanks everyone!

Pardon the pun but... I am leaning towards Timbrens. If nothing else but ease of install. However... with the added tongue weight of the ProV... The fiberglass topper. Gear for three... Seems like bags wouldn't be that bad of an idea. Reason being such varying loads.

One weekend I run day trips or solo. The next, loaded for bear for three days of power fishing with the boys. The next... who knows.

I feel the "one size fits all" ability of the Timbrens has it's place. They worked great on my plow trucks. I'm just not sure if it's the best fit for my application(s).

(Note to self... Next time, buy a bigger truck. )

I have had both the air bags and timbren. I prefer the Timbren. Easy to install and no air lines to mess with.

I have a pickup that got air bags back in 1994. I didn't buy the on board compressor (I have a compressor in my garage but found a bicycle pump worked better), just routed the air hoses through some little holes that were already in the bumper. I paid nowhere near the price you mention. I bought Firestone bags from JC Whitney but you may want to check AutoAnything.com. If you choose bags, be sure to get bags that set on top of the axle, not out on the springs.

No air pump. Two schrader valves installed on the sides of my rear licence plate holder. (One valve for each bag) I fill them with a heavy duty bicycle pump, if needed.

The nerve of some people Juls, I bet it looks great now.

I have bags in my Avalanche because of the coils. Love them. I didn't want to run the bags at different pressures so I bought a T for the lines and ran the fill into the gas tank to hide it.

Exactly how I did it, I always carry one of those 12V compressors for the just in case moment. It would inflate mine in no time.
