not me... if you snag your going to loose everything and don't have time to try to save it...or you'll loose what on your handlines..

theres no reason you should loose everything if you have your rod in a rod holder when polelining as long as your drag is set right. I poleline alot and use a rod holder without any problems. It will get you by for sure and instead of paying the 350 bucks for handline reels. But if a guy is going to do alot of it I would invest in handlines the automatic rewind is nice. And for the guy who uses 40 leads what are you running for baits for sure not cranks.

If you put a rod in a rod holder tolling in the Trenton Channel of the Detroit river you will lose ALL your gear.

There are areas of the Detroit river way too snagy to use a rod holder.

like keith and perch, we run alot of 20 and 40ft leads on the detroit and st clair rivers using anything from #5 to #11 rapala's, or any shollow diving minnow bait. and YES you will loose everything on these 2 rivers if you put your rod in a holder... the bottom is to irregular and very very snaggy ...ask any jigger :)
